Monday, 19 May 2008 09:25
Governor Joe Manchin and the West Virginia State Tax Commissioner, Christopher G. Morris, today announced an innovation in modern tax administration in West Virginia.

“From paying your bills to checking your bank account, online activity is flourishing in the private sector. The State Tax Department is taking online tax payments and account administration to the next level,” Morris said. “This is another step toward our Department becoming a 24/7 operation for Taxpayer convenience.” Governor Joe Manchin and the West Virginia State Tax Commissioner, Christopher G. Morris, today announced an innovation in modern tax administration in West Virginia.

“From paying your bills to checking your bank account, online activity is flourishing in the private sector. The State Tax Department is taking online tax payments and account administration to the next level,” Morris said. “This is another step toward our Department becoming a 24/7 operation for Taxpayer convenience.”

As of May 15, 2008, Taxpayers who must pay the Sales and Use, and Withholding taxes can view, file and pay those taxes on the Tax Department’s new, secure website called https://mytaxes.wvtax.gov. The previous webpage, located on the West Virginia Tax Department’s website, used to pay these taxes online will cease on that same date. “The new ‘My Taxes’ website is an opportunity to help us better serve the citizens of our great state, while improving tax compliancy,” Governor Manchin said. “In today’s business world, people expect accurate results quickly and easily. ‘My Taxes’ will enable the State Tax Department to meet those expectations for businesses here at home.”

This change is the latest update to the Department’s RAPIDS project. RAPIDS, which stands for Revenue Accounts Processing Integrated Development System, is a multi-year $22 million project that will establish an integrated tax system for the ease and convenience of West Virginia Taxpayers. “The RAPIDS Project and the computerized tax system are on schedule to help us deliver the best customer service possible to all West Virginians,” Morris said.
