The City of Hurricane is seeking full-time Finance Manager. This employee’s primary role is essentially that of a Chief Financial Officer and other tasks as assigned by the City Manager or Mayor. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain all financial records for budgeting per WVSAO requirements.
  • Works closely with AP/AR for expensing budget.
  • Deposits and maintains revenue for all City of Hurricane accounts.
  • Works with the following State offices: Treasurer, Tax Department, Auditors, WV Municipal League, GFOA.
  • Reconciles bank statements for all checking and saving accounts for all City and Utility Departments and transfers funds as needed.
  • Learn or have knowledge of City codes, City ordinances, and zoning information
  • Assist City Manager with correspondence and budgeting information.
  • Prepare financial information and minutes for City Council as well as attend monthly meetings. 
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business; or comparable 3-5 years accounting experience.
  • Knowledge of Municipal or County Government accounting extremely helpful.
  • Proficient with various computer applications and ability to operate general office equipment
  • Ability to perform duties without direct supervision.
  • Ability to work under high stress and meet important deadlines.
  • Ability to interact with citizens, administration, and co-workers in a professional manner.

Schedule:

 Working hours are 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
