DIRECTOR OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
CITY OF CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA
The City of Clarksburg is accepting applications for a full-time Director of Economic Development. Under administrative direction of the City Manager, directs, manages, supervises, and coordinates the activities and operations of the City’s Economic Development Department and represent the City’s interest regarding economic development opportunities. This position will work to provide the community with economic growth, broad-based prosperity, quality jobs, and a sustainable quality of life by attracting new corporate investment, and by facilitating the expansion of existing businesses and industries.
The primary focus of the position will be on existing business retention and growth, revitalization of targeted retail and office areas within the City and recruitment of businesses with identified target sectors. Other key responsibilities include grant writing, working closely with Code Enforcement and Finance, and preparations and implementation of long-range economic development plans.
A successful candidate for the position:
- Must be an exceptional communicator, able to thoughtfully represent the interest of the Department and the City, with a high level of community presence.
- Possess a bachelor’ degree with major course work in the field of economic development, urban planning, public and/or business administration, or related field.
The salary range is between $60,000-$70,000.
