Grants to promote physical activity in your WV community are now available!
Applications for Communities on the Move! (COM) Grants, a program of West Virginia on the Move (WVOM), are now available.
COM grants are offered to promote community-based social support projects that will increase physical activity opportunities and participation levels of WV citizens.
Application deadline is August 15, 2012 and grants are available from $3,000 to $5,000.

West Virginia Retirement Plus prospers under Perdue
CHARLESTON – The state’s official supplemental retirement plan has more than doubled in the number of participants and experienced an 82 percent total asset increase since State Treasurer John Perdue’s office assumed administration in July of 2006.
West Virginia Retirement Plus, a 457 plan serving public employees, now shows 12,924 participants, up from only 5,022 six years ago. It boasts approximately $124,000 in total assets, as opposed to $68,000 in 2006.

GOVERNOR TOMBLIN ANNOUNCES OUTDOOR BURNING BAN TO BE LIFTED
Effective tomorrow, July 14, 2012
CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin today announced the outdoor burning ban will be lifted, effective tomorrow July 14, 2012. With the approval of the governor, State Forester Randy Dye, in cooperation with Division of Natural Resources Director Frank Jezioro, rescinded the outdoor burning ban, which has been in place since July 6, 2012.
"We have made significant progress with storm recovery during the past week, and I believe it is safe for residents to burn storm debris that has collected in yards and communities throughout West Virginia. Please use caution and put safety first," Gov. Tomblin said.

Jim Hunt appointed to Governor Tomblin’s Natural Gas Vehicle Task Force
CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin announced the members of the Natural Gas Vehicle Task Force. The Task Force will assess the feasibility of transitioning the state’s vehicle fleet to natural gas as a fuel source and developing a supporting infrastructure.
