The West Virginia Ethics Commission has issued an advisory opinion (A.O. 2016-04) that overturns earlier Advisory Opinions (AO 2006-05, AO 2012-04) and confirms that West Virginia law allows a City Council to employ its Mayor as a full-time or part-time City employee.
The Police Civil Service Commission of the City of Bluefield, West Virginia, will be conducting entry level tests for probationary police officers in the Bluefield, West Virginia Police Department. Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years of age, must be or become a resident of Mercer County, have a high school diploma or GED, and have or get a valid West Virginia Drivers License. The City of Weirton is accepting applications for the position of Planning and Development Director. This professional position is primarily responsible for the daily and long range planning functions to further community and economic development, as well as design, initiatives. Duties include administering the comprehensive plan and zoning ordinances, site plan and use review, and enforcement of the subdivision regulations and zoning ordinances. Position answers directly to the City Manager; however, professional judgement may be exercised and technical decisions made as advisory to the City Manager.
